BROWN (LATE) BOCCIERI (A NO SHOW) ON CONSTITUENT SERVICES?

If you ask Chris Borello of the Concerned Citizens of Lake Township (CCLT) how good U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (Democrat) and Congressman John Boccieri (Democrat - Alliance) are on constituent services, she most likely would give Brown a "D" and Boccieri an "F."

Why is that?

Well, Borello has been working tirelessly since the early 1980s to get the Ohio and U.S. governments to force a cleanup of the Uniontown Industrial Excess Landfill (IEL), mostly through Republicans (Oelslager, Schuring, Hagan, Regula and the like) to get action.

But they pretty much turned a deaf ear to her and her citizen action group.

With the election of Democrats Ted Strickland as Ohio's governor in 2006 and Barrack Obama in 2008, Sherrod Brown (2006 - U.S. Senate) and John Boccieri in 2008 (U.S. Congress), she had to figure she would get more attentive responses to her pleas for action.

Supposedly, Democrats care more about the environment than Republicans do.

How has she fared?

Not very well.

This blog presents an example of Borello's frustration.

Since Brown's election as senator, Borello has been working him to make inquiry of the U.S. EPA regarding some questions she and the CCLT have.  Initially, Brown did not respond, but in time he did and he sent the Borello requested letter on June 1, 2009.

Borello and her CCLT group waited and waited and waited for a Brown response on his EPA inquiry.  But nothing.

So on December 7th she sent him an email (copy to Congressman Boccieri) asking about the lack of response.

His response?  (on or about December 14, 2009)

"Oh shucks, we have had the EPA response since June 22, 2009 but we 'inadvertently' failed to get it to you." (paraphrased).

Now how do you like that for constituent services.

The SCPR believes that Chris and her group are not very high on Senator Brown's importance list.

Let's say Republican stalwart Ward Timken of the Timken Company made an inquiry of either Senator Brown and/or Congressman Boccieri?  Think he would get lost in the Brown/Boccieri attention span?

Hardly.

Democrat "men of the people" Boccieri  and Brown are proving, like their Republican public official predecessors did; that day-in, day-out, they forget Borello types.  Or, perhaps, if they have enough "inadvertent" lapses; she will just fade away.
